How the rate is worked out
The formula
Engagement rate by impressions is the interactions on a post divided by the number of times it was shown, times 100: (reactions + comments + reposts + clicks) ÷ impressions × 100. A post shown 2,000 times with 40 reactions, 8 comments and 2 reposts has (40 + 8 + 2) ÷ 2,000 × 100 = 2.5%. The calculator prints the same line with your numbers under every result, so you can check it by hand.
Where the definition comes from
From LinkedIn. Its help page for Page analytics describes the engagement rate as the ratio of interactions to impressions and counts clicks, reactions, comments and shares as interactions (Content analytics for your LinkedIn Page, checked on 5 October 2026). Clicks are a figure from Page analytics; the analytics of a personal post do not list them, so the field is optional: leave it empty and clicks stay out of the sum, which the formula under the result shows. Either count clicks for all the posts you compare or for none.
By impressions or by followers
The rate by followers divides the same interactions by your follower count instead. It answers a different question: how much of the audience you already have responded. It can go above 100% when a post travels beyond your followers. If the rate by impressions comes out above 100%, there are more interactions than views, and the calculator asks you to check the numbers.
What to compare it with
Your own posts. There is no benchmark on this page, on purpose: a published average would have to say what it counts, whose posts it sampled and when, and we have no source that does that well enough to print its number here. Posts from the same account share an audience and a way of counting, so the ranking between them means something. With two or more posts the calculator also works out the rate for all of them together, every interaction divided by every impression, which is your own baseline.
Where to find the numbers
In the analytics of each post on LinkedIn, which list impressions, reactions, comments and reposts. LinkedIn itself notes that these figures are estimates and may not be precise (Post analytics for your content, checked on 5 October 2026), so two posts a few hundredths of a point apart are level.
Privacy
The page runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to MediaPilot or anyone else, nothing is stored, and there is no account. Reload the page and the numbers are gone.
